What started as a small mountain gathering is now one of northern New Mexico’s signature fall events. The event returns to Bradenburg Park in the heart of town, mixing Bavarian tradition with New Mexico character. Enjoy beer, food, games, and live entertainment against a backdrop of golden aspens.

Peak Color, Peak Weekend

Oktoberfest weekend falls right in the middle of Red River’s fall foliage season. The aspens in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains turn gold and orange in mid-October, making the festival grounds and surrounding trails some of the most scenic in New Mexico.

  • Daytime highs in the low-to-mid 50s, dropping into the 30s at night. Layers are essential!

  • Mid-October is typically peak aspen season in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. Exact timing varies year to year, but early October almost always has strong color.
